Week 9 - Incident Response: Communication is Key

 When a security breach hits, panic can spread faster than the malware itself. That’s why having a solid incident response plan is crucial, but even the best plan can fail without good communication. So, what do you need to do? Get clear, timely updates to the right people. The CSIRT team should assess the damage first, then brief leadership like the CISO or CTO, who can keep the CEO in the loop. Customers should thoughtfully be informed. Too soon and you risk confusion, but too late, and trust could erode. Balancing speed, accuracy, and transparency is the best course of action.
